A Mobile inmate has been charged with attempted murder after prosecutors said he stabbed a corrections officer 15 times.
Jeremiah Josea Jackson, 32, had previously been accused of attacking officers when the incident occurred during meal distribution in May.
WKRG reported on the details revealed during a preliminary hearing.
Evidence suggests Jackson was inside his cell and armed with two shanks when he pushed his way out of the cell as an officer was delivering meals. The shanks were made from metal support railings.
The officer’s Taser stun gun and pepper spray did not stop Jackson from stabbing him in the face, neck, arms and chest.
Jackson is claiming self-defense.
The case was bound over to a grand jury.
