Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) appointed Casey Rogers to serve as her external affairs director. Rogers comes to the Governor’s Office from the Alabama Farmers Federation where she was the director of state legislative programs.

“The Ivey administration will always be committed to being the most open governor’s administration, and I am glad to have Casey on board to help further that mission,” said Ivey. “Every member of my cabinet and staff are here to be resources for the people of Alabama, and I am confident in them as we work every day to make Alabama a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

As external affairs director, Rogers will serve as a staff contact for federal government offices, as well as Alabama constitutional offices, cities, counties and other organizations.

Prior to her time at the Alabama Farmers Federation, Rogers served as a field representative for then Congresswoman Martha Roby (R-AL02). Rogers also had communications experience following her graduation from The University of Alabama in 2013.

The Governor has made a number of changes to her staff in recent months due to the departures of State Finance Director Kelly Butler for health reasons and Chief of Staff Jo Bonner to accept the President’s post at the University of South Alabama.

The Alabama Farmers Federation recently announced the promotion of Russ Durrance to State Legislative Programs Director, to replace Rogers. Durrance will immediately begin his new duties, which focus on representing Federation members in public policy discussions at the Alabama State House.

Durrance said he’s eager to amplify farmers’ voices in Montgomery.

“While I’ve enjoyed my time working in the Governmental and Agricultural Programs Department, I’m excited to expand my reach and ability to serve our members in the State House,” Durrance said. “My role working on the CAFO revisions in 2020 helped me understand the benefit and need to focus on governmental policy to benefit Alabama farmers and our rural communities.”
