According to reports, former Alabama quarterback Jay Barker was arrested after an incident early Saturday morning in Nashville.
Barker who was listed in the Davidson County Jail as Harry Jerome Barker, 49, was charged with felony aggravated assault. According to the Davidson County Sheriff's Office’s online database, Barker was arrested at 4:10 a.m. CT and was booked at 4:52 a.m. He was then placed under a 12-hour domestic violence hold with a $10,000 bond. Barker currently has a court date set for March 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Sports Illustrated reported that Barker attempted to hit his wife, Sara Evans, with a vehicle, as she was returning home from a party. He was arrested by Nashville Police.
Barker, the host of “The Jay Barker Show” on Tuscaloosa radio station Tide 100.9, is married to Evans, a country music artist. Reports state the couple have been living separately. Barker is also the father of Alabama walk-on quarterback Braxton Barker.
Barker played at Alabama from 1991-94 and quarterbacked the Crimson Tide during its 1992 national championship season. He was 35-2-1 as a starting quarterback at Alabama and is eighth on the Tide's all-time career passing yardage list with 5,689 yards.
