A man believed to have lived in the Coalburg community near Fultondale was killed in a hit-and-run, and authorities have been unable to find his family.
Billy Ray Hall, Jr., 59, was hit on August 17 at 1:55 a.m. He was crossing Georgia Road at 52nd Way North in Birmingham when he was hit.
Hall was pronounced dead on the scene.
The vehicle that hit Hall left the scene of the incident. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating.
Jefferson County Coroner Bill Yates said all efforts to locate the family have failed, and it is unclear if he has any family that is still alive. Yates asks anyone with information to call the Jefferson County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office at 205-930-3603.
