The office of Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr is working with several local nonprofits, businesses and government agencies to help formerly incarcerated individuals get to work.
Last week, Carr announced the “Second Chance Hiring Fair“ will take place on October 17. The fair’s organizers hope to help the approximately 2,000 people who reenter the workforce in Jefferson County following incarceration every year.
The fair will take place at Boutwell Auditorium, and Carr’s office is seeking organizations to commit to participating. Participating organizations must have open positions that can be filled by people with criminal backgrounds, and they must be willing to interview and/or hire on the day of the event.
Employers eager to participate in the fair can register on the organization’s website here.
According to his office, Carr has already helped organize eight job fairs, resulting in nearly 800 hires.
