Two people are facing federal charges after a grand jury indicted them in two separate child exploitation cases.
Steven Roshee Powell, also known as “Champ G,” 35, of Birmingham, is accused of forcing a teenager into prostitution. He is charged with sex trafficking and attempted sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion. Authorities allege the incidents occurred in October 2025.
Adam Joseph Hegler, 46, of Hueytown, is charged with distribution and possession of child pornography. The incidents occurred between November 2024 and April 2025, according to charging documents.
Homeland Security Investigations investigated the cases along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Powell and Hegler are considered innocent until proven guilty.
Acting U.S. Attorney Catherine L. Crosby asked anyone with information about possible sexual exploitation of a child to contact local law enforcement or make a report online with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.
