Over 1,000 seniors in Jefferson County Schools' graduating class of 2022 received at least one scholarship this year.
In 2021, 913 students in the school system received scholarships.
Jefferson County students were offered 2,853 scholarships, totaling $103.8 million, almost $2 million more than the 2021 total.
“What an amazing accomplishment by the class of 2022,” said Dr. Walter Gonsoulin, Superintendent of Jefferson County Schools. “To see year-to-year growth in all these areas shows a tremendous effort by our graduates and our employees. I commend all the students for their hard work and wish you continued success at the next level. Thank you also to our teachers. Your commitment and dedication to our students from kindergarten to graduation make this type of success possible.”
Jefferson County Schools graduation ceremonies began Friday. The last ceremony will take place on Thursday.
