An executive assistant for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was arrested last week.
Sebastian Alexander Carrillo, 54, of Fairfield, is charged with first-degree theft by deception. According to jail records, Carrillo was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Friday afternoon. He was released shortly thereafter.
Carrillo retired from Birmingham Fire & Rescue after 20 years of service. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office then hired him.
Carrillo is considered innocent until proven guilty.
