I’m seeing a lot of well-meaning people posting on social media and saying out loud that Donald Trump was “lucky.” The American people were “lucky.” We were all “lucky.”
I firmly believe that “lucky” is the wrong term here. In fact, I cringe a bit when I see or hear a sincere person use the L word after former President Trump survived a close call from bullets by a would-be assassin.
My belief system and worldview cause me to use different terms to describe the same events.
Donald Trump was “blessed.”
There was a “hedge of protection” around Donald Trump.
The hand of God was on Donald Trump.
Trump turned his head at just the right moment. Was it a “miracle?”
“Lucky” implies that there is some grand roulette dealer in the sky. Some people have their numbers come up, and some don’t. Random selection. I don’t buy it.
My Bible has a section toward the back called a Concordance. It contains the terms in the Bible from A to Z. It tells where each word appears in the scriptures. I just double-checked my Concordance. “Luck” is not in the Bible. “Lucky” is not there, nor is there any variation.
The attempted shooting of Donald Trump was a close call. It could have been a whole lot worse – a tragedy for him and his family, the nation, our future, and the yuuuge MAGA family. We could be planning a state funeral today instead of planning Trump’s week at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
But we literally dodged a bullet. That’s an old Southern term you hear a lot.
Did Donald Trump survive and live to fight another day because of LUCK? Or was it something else?
