John “Tater” Harris won Tuesday’s primary runoff against Brett Gaar for Baldwin County Commission District 4.

With 94% of precincts reporting, Harris had 10,417 (55%) votes to Gaar’s 8,532 (45%).

Harris ran on improving traffic, addressing overcrowded schools and keeping up with growth. As a local business owner, he said he has a deep commitment to the county’s future and understands residents’ needs.

Harris serves as chairman of the Orange Beach Public Safety Committee and serves on the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber board and the American Heart Association’s executive leadership team.

Harris will replace Commissioner Charles F. "Skip" Gruber, who did not seek re-election. Election results will be certified next week.
