State Sen. Josh Carnley (R-Ino) announced on Monday that he plans to run for re-election in 2026 to represent Senate District 31.
Senate District 31 includes all of Coffee, Covington and Pike Counties, and the northern half of Dale County.
“Serving the people of our district is a great honor and responsibility which I take seriously,” Carnley said. “We’ve cut the grocery tax, banned DEI in state agencies and education, protected our veterans from claim sharks, and passed an energy infrastructure plan to power economic growth. I’m running for re-election to keep that work going and to ensure our communities have a strong voice in Montgomery.”
State Sen. Pro-Tem Garlan Gudger (R-Cullman) recently appointed Carnley as vice chairman of the Senate State & Local Government committee, a panel that oversees legislation impacting counties, municipalities, and local authorities across Alabama. In this leadership role, Carnley said he will continue championing practical, local solutions that strengthen services while safeguarding taxpayer dollars.
“Josh brings a steady, common-sense approach to the issues,” Gudger said. “He’s a Conservative’s conservative and a strong Republican the people of District 31 and the state can trust. I need him in the state senate to help us deliver for the people of Alabama.”
