The market volatility over the past few weeks, sparked by President Trump's tariff announcements, reflects Wall Street's knee-jerk panic — short on analysis, steeped in exaggeration, and disconnected from economic realities.

Here’s the reality: Trump has been preaching tariffs since the 1980s. This isn’t a bluff or a surprise — it’s a playbook he’s honed for decades. To clutch pearls now, in 2025, is buffoonery of the highest order. Trump is putting American workers first, and nowhere is that clearer than in Alabama, where his policies are poised to revive our auto industry, steel, agriculture and fishing.

Since January 20, Trump’s administration has moved at warp speed to prioritize American families. His tariffs are a wake-up call to the world: the U.S. won’t cower anymore. Take Alabama, a powerhouse in auto manufacturing – home to giants like Mercedes-Benz, Honda and Hyundai. We’re already one of the nation’s top producers, but Trump’s tariffs are turbocharging that. By slapping duties on foreign goods, he’s luring more manufacturers to our state, where steel plants are firing up again and job boards are filling up. This isn’t just talk – domestic investment is climbing, and Alabama’s Rust Belt roots are turning into a manufacturing renaissance.

Then there’s agriculture, the backbone of our state. Alabama’s farmers have been battered by cheap imports for too long, but Trump’s tariffs are a shield. China, our biggest trade threat, has flooded markets with subsidized crops, undercutting our cotton, soybeans and poultry. Now, with tariffs biting back, our ag industry has breathing room to thrive again. Most importantly, along our beautiful Gulf Coast, Trump’s leadership is putting fishermen first. Foreign seafood – often harvested unsustainably – has drowned out our shrimp and oyster hauls. These tariffs protect our waters and our way of life, ensuring Alabama’s coastal communities aren’t just surviving but flourishing.

Wall Street doesn’t get it – they never do. When the Dow dips because traders panic over tariffs, it’s not a crisis; it’s a tantrum from elites who’d rather profit off China than invest in Mobile or Montgomery. The early numbers tell the real story: trade deficits are shrinking, and Alabama’s industries are stirring. Trump’s been clear for 40 years – tariffs build American strength. The recent panic? That’s just noise from folks who’d bet against us rather than believe in us.

This is America’s golden age, and Alabama is at the heart of it. Trump is putting every country on notice: the United States won’t be threatened or bled dry. Our auto plants, steel mills, farms, and fishing boats are proof his tariffs work. Panic builds nothing – it only scares. What we need is faith in a plan that’s delivering for Alabama and beyond. Trump’s not bluffing – he’s keeping a promise to put our workers and families first.
