The Julie Gard Schnuelle Annual Scholarship Fund has been established at Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to honor the slain retired professor.
Schnuelle, 59, was murdered on Saturday and found dead in a wooded area of Kiesel Park.
According to her obituary, Schnuelle "was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend; along with being an accomplished veterinarian, teacher, and scientist. Her unwavering love, joyous laughter, and strong spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her."
Schnuelle, who met her husband, Archie, in the same park where she was killed, left behind two children and three stepchildren.
Anyone who would like to donate to the scholarship fund may do so online here.
Schnuelle's memorial service will be held Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Opelika, at 12:30 p.m., followed by a visitation until 3:30 p.m.
