It’s officially campaign season for coaches and athletic directors of potential College Football Playoff contenders.
Alabama football has exhausted all opportunities to impress the College Football Playoff committee on the field, but the work is far from done.
On Monday, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne took to social media to lay out his pitch for the Crimson Tide to make the playoffs.
Here's a good look at the numbers/rankings for @AlabamaFTBL. Recognize there’s lots of chatter out there about 2 vs. 3 loss teams, however that is just one factor. On Tuesday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer did his part to sell to the committee that his team should be in the playoffs during a series of interviews.
DeBoer started his morning by jumping on SEC Network’s "SEC This Morning" to plead his case. The focus was on Alabama's strength of schedule and wins over the current top 25 teams. The Crimson Tide have wins over No. 7 Georgia, No. 15 South Carolina and No. 21 Missouri.
“The wins we have and the week-to-week schedule we play in the SEC, I think it’s undeniable of what that all is,” DeBoer told "SEC This Morning." “It’s not just the games that are against the top five or 10, it’s the whole season long. It’s each and every week. The strength of schedule for us … it’s very deserving that with what we did that we’re one of those 12 teams.”
“Not just a Top 12 team, but a team that could win it all.”@KalenDeBoer made the case for his team to get a CFP bid with @PeterBurnsESPN & @ChrisDoering!

Later in the day, DeBoer was a guest on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show." During his appearance, DeBoer stated that he knows what a championship team looks like and listed some of Alabama’s championship traits. DeBoer is just one year removed from leading Washington to a loss in the national championship game.
“We have the explosiveness, we have the physicality. We’re very balanced as a football team,” DeBoer told "The Pat McAfee Show." “When I see championship teams, and I’ve just a year ago saw what that looked like, I think about what’s inside and who you are as a team and also what you have as far as athletes on the football field and what that looks like in all the different phases.”

While highlighting Alabama's strengths, DeBoer emphasized their dominant defense, which tops the SEC and ranks second nationally with 27 takeaways. He also praised the performance of dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe, who has accounted for 35 total touchdowns this season, 20 rushing and 15 passing.
"When Jalen Milroe is fresh there's really nobody like him at the QB position in the country"@KalenDeBoer #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/VI14cNu727

Milroe and the Alabama offense have experienced some highs and lows this season. In big wins over Georgia and LSU, Milroe looked like a Heisman contender, but in losses against Tennessee and Oklahoma, he was unable to get the offense moving.
To get into the 12-team College Football Playoffs, Alabama would need to be ranked No. 11 or better to avoid getting passed by the Big 12 conference champion, who will more than likely be awarded the No. 12 spot to the fifth-highest ranked conference champion. Alabama is one of three SEC teams currently on the bubble alongside Miami.
The latest playoff rankings will be announced on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT on ESPN, giving Alabama a good idea of where they stand going into the conference champion games.
