Katherine Robertson, a candidate for attorney general in next month's GOP runoff election against former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Jay Mitchell, recently received an endorsement from a River Region district attorney.
CJ Robinson, who serves in the 19th Circuit, which includes Autauga, Chilton and Elmore Counties, announced the endorsement on Thursday, praising Robertson's experience as the lead counsel in Attorney General Steve Marshall's office.
"I have worked alongside Katherine for almost 10 years advocating for crime victims, coordinating the prosecution of violent criminals, and working to pass legislation that makes our communities safer," Robinson said. "She is a proven leader who has the experience and the heart to excel as Alabama's Chief Law Enforcement Official."
Mitchell and Robertson defeated Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey for a shot at the Republican Party's nomination on Tuesday.
Robertson received the majority of the votes, securing 189,183 votes (40.5%). Mitchell earned 160,616 votes (34.4%).
"I am honored and grateful to have the support of District Attorney CJ Robinson," said Robertson. "CJ is a respected and seasoned prosecutor who has dedicated his career to protecting Alabama families. I am excited to have him on the team as we continue our campaign's focus on public safety, putting victims first, and working with law enforcement to ensure Alabama families are safe."
The winner of the runoff will face the uncontested Democratic nominee, Jeff McLaughlin, for the seat in the Nov. 3 general election.
