The "legacy media" doesn't know what to do as the government shutdown continues, according to U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery).
The federal government shutdown began on October 1 because enough Democrats refused to support legislation to fund the government.
In response to a question by an AL(dot)com reporter on Wednesday, citing polling from a few media outlets showing that Americans blame Republicans more than Democrats for the government being shut down, Britt blamed the legacy media during a press call on Wednesday afternoon.
"Respectfully… that's because of people like you. Look at the media and the legacy media, consistently, y'all have been the third arm of the Democrats' political party, and I think the media itself doesn't know what to do right now because y'all know that we are actually right," Britt said on Wednesday. "We have taken a Biden-era budget, and we have extended it to allow us to continue to do work. We're not asking like Schumer did when we extended his with like a Christmas tree-type CR where he had done no work, and we gave the benefit of the doubt, and we continued to move it on for the sake of the American people. We have done work and have shown a pathway to continuing to get work done, and they've chosen to shut this down."
