Making the nation’s capital “safe and beautiful again” is a “national priority,” according to U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery).

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced on Wednesday that the White House is sending him and Britt DC Security Fund legislation to “improve the safety and quality of life in our nation’s capital.”

"I had a very good discussion with [Trump], [Pam Bondi] and [Trump's] senior staffers on how Congress can help make Washington, DC safe again," Graham wrote on X. "The White House is working on a package to send me and [Britt] from Alabama. Together, we will try to shepherd the DC Security Fund through Congress to give President Trump the resources he will need to improve the safety and quality of life in our nation’s capital.   Every American should be behind this effort to make Washington, DC clean and safe so that it can truly become the shining city on the hill."

Britt previously criticized local government officials in Washington, D.C. in 2023 after one of her staffers was robbed and carjacked at gunpoint in the nation’s capital.

Britt said on Wednesday she supported Trump’s efforts to restore law and order.

“I completely agree with [Graham]—making Washington, DC, safe and beautiful again is a national priority. I’m proud to support [Trump's] efforts to restore law and order to our nation’s capital,” Britt said.

Britt also recently introduced legislation to ban illegal aliens from voting in Washington, D.C. elections.
