During a Thursday morning appearance on Newsmax, U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) discussed the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.

Britt blamed the incident on liberals constantly demonizing members of law enforcement across the country.

"When we look at where we are and how we got here, the left has to assume responsibility for creating an environment that should have never existed," stated Britt. "This doesn't go back just a few months. This goes back years. Their actual rhetoric about law enforcement officers and what they do in our community has been toxic, and it is a seed that has been sowing and growing for some time."

Britt said the left needs to take increased accountability for causing situations that lead to incidents like the shooting.

"At the end of the day, one thing that everyone needs to remember is law enforcement officers leave the safety of their home each and every day so that we can return to ours," she outlined. "I think the left has got to stop, and you've got to be more responsible."

"You have to stand shoulder to shoulder with the people who are here to keep us safe," added Britt.

According to Britt, there has been a 1300% increase in assaults on ICE officers, with an 8,000% increase in death threats also being recorded.
