The American public should “get transparent, credible answers” related to the late Jeffrey Epstein, according to U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery).
Britt during the Senate Appropriations Committee’s markup of the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026 last week supported a unanimously adopted amendment that would ensure the DOJ releases everything the Department has on the Epstein case to members of Congress.
Some in President Donald Trump’s base have criticized the Trump administration for not releasing more information about the alleged wrongdoings of Epstein since taking office in January. Epstein is allegedly connected to multiple wealthy and powerful people and was arrested in 2019 for the sex trafficking of minors.
“Jeffrey Epstein was a sexual predator—full stop,” Britt told 1819 News in a statement on Thursday. “The abuses of his victims, especially children, are despicable. This is why I supported an amendment the Senate Appropriations Committee adopted last week to ensure the DOJ releases everything the Department has on the Epstein case. It’s crucial that, while protecting the privacy rights of victims, the American public get transparent, credible answers. President Trump and his administration are committed to that goal.”
