U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) recently slammed her Democratic colleagues after a vote on legislation by U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) prohibiting men from competing in women’s sports failed to advance.
The Senate failed to advance Tuberville’s Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act on Monday after the body could not garner enough support to cloture debate and proceed to a final vote. The cloture vote went along party lines, with every Republican voting in favor and every Democrat voting against.
The legislation would define a person's sex based on their biological sex at birth when applying Title IX code, the sweeping name given to civil rights legislation prohibiting sex-based education discrimination. It would also remove federal funding from schools that allow biological men in female-only spaces.
Tuberville's bill does the same thing as President Donald Trump's Keeping Men Out of Women Sports executive order. However, Tuberville warned that the order would only last as long as Trump is in office, highlighting the need to codify it into law.
On Tuesday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham, Britt lambasted the Democrats for choosing Tuesday to wear pink in support of women.
Republicans are the Party that defends women and girls in sports.

After the show’s host commented that Britt was taking the color back from Democrats, Britt launched into her criticism of the partisan decision not to protect women and girls.
“They don't get to own anything, especially when they are unwilling to stand up for females, stand up for young girls and do the right thing,” Britt replied. “Can you believe literally not one Democrat voted for that bill? Not one. And it is an 80-20 issue. 80% of America says, ‘we do not want biological boys in women's sports’, and they are still too cowardly to stand up for young women. Yeah, we are taking it back because we are going to do the right thing.”
