During this week's broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Sunday Morning Futures," U.S. Sen. Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) signaled an openness to President Donald Trump's $2,000 tariff check proposal.
"The president has floated this idea of sending Americans direct payments of $2,000 checks or more," host Maria Bartiromo said. "Do you think that would pass muster with Congress?"
Britt replied, "Well, look, I sure hope so. I sure hope we take a look at these types of things and how we can make sure that the American people have more of their hard-earned money back in their pocket. And if you think about what President Trump has been doing overall, he wants to make sure that we onshore more jobs, that we drive up American wages. And the results of these negotiations are more money in Americans' pockets. That's what this has been about all along, leveling the playing field, because President Trump knows that you can put Americans against anyone else in the world, and if we are on a level playing field, we will always win."
"And so being able to show the results to the American people, allowing them to keep more of their hard-earned money, I certainly hope that that's something that Congress takes a look at," she added. "And, definitely, I think that it would be something that the American people would receive well."
