The Carnell Williams-led Auburn Tigers defeated Western Kentucky 41-17 on Saturday at Auburn University's Jordan-Hare Stadium.

A few hours after Auburn's victory, nearly 700 miles away in Fayetteville, Ark., Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, considered Auburn's top choice to fill its head football coaching vacancy, suffered a 42-27 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Following the defeat, Kiffin was asked what his future had in store and being considered by Auburn to lead its football team.

"Fair question – like I said, I love being here," Kiffin responded. "I don't want to look to next year already with a regular-season game, but this is not one of those years where you say, 'We're going to lose all these guys.' There's a lot of people coming back. And a lot of new guys offensively, especially. So, very excited about the future. So, I don't know all that stuff out there, 'number one' stuff. Maybe if they watched the first half, I wouldn't be number one anymore."
