A Killen man was arrested last Friday in Tuscumbia for allegedly making terroristic threats against Deshler High School over its handling of a case involving injured student August Borden.

According to an affidavit reported by FOX54, Robert Shaun Bowman, 47, caused a stir when he drove onto campus, yelling from his vehicle, which alarmed the students and led to practices being canceled.

He also allegedly made threats on social media, according to the Tuscumbia Police Department.

Bowman was placed in the Colbert County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Bowman participated in a protest and march the week prior, on October 30 and 31, where concerned citizens gathered at the school and county courthouse to show their support for Borden and call for transparency in his case.

On August 19, Borden suffered severe injuries, including multiple skull fractures, while walking from the main campus to football practice. He was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham after being resuscitated on the school sidewalk. Initial reports by school officials blamed the injuries on another student, but Borden's parents were later told it was due to an accidental fall.

However, an investigation by the Madison County Attorney General's Office determined that the injuries were sustained after another student gave Borden a "bear hug" from behind, at which point he went limp and fell to the ground on his face. The AG chose not to press charges against the other student, calling it a case of horseplay gone wrong.

Terrence Wren, who organized the October protests, expressed support for Bowman, believing him to be innocent of the charges.
