In the most recent episode of the dystopian “Britain has fallen” drama unfolding before our eyes, Prime Minister Keir Starmer boldly proclaimed: “You will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have a digital ID. It’s as simple as that.” His goal is to implement this before the next election or by 2029.

If only this were a fictional Netflix series.

Former Prime Minister Tony Blair attempted to introduce biometric ID cards roughly two decades ago as an attempt to fight terrorism and fraud, but parliament and the public strongly opposed the idea, so it was discarded. Why can’t bad ideas just die?

Starmer appears to be ambitiously determined, yet many remain unconvinced. Up to this point, all five of Northern Ireland’s main parties have rejected Starmer’s scheme to foist this on them.

Nearby Switzerland, however, just voted to introduce digital ID cards by a razor-thin margin. According to Breitbart, 50.39% of the Swiss population voted for voluntary digital ID. Voters shot down a similar effort back in 2021. But this time, Swiss lawmakers were prepared, gathering signatures to put the measure back before the people.

European leaders appear determined to force digital ID upon citizens. Most of the 27 EU member states have a December 2026 deadline to ensure that European Digital Identity (EUDI) is available for citizens who want it.

Think this is just a European problem? Think again. Unofficial voluntary digital ID is already here in the U.S. Over 20 states now accept mobile driver’s licenses at airports and other places. Physical IDs have sufficed as valid identification for decades, but some states are now racing to make them obsolete.

The World Economic Forum, also known in certain circles as Hydra, sees a world where our identification, money, health information, and any useful data they can control is digitized. It has launched the Connected Future Initiative, an effort to market what they call digital public infrastructure.

This push to spread digital IDs has faced intense criticism from anyone with common sense and a knowledge of history. Unelected but always scheming Bill Gates appears to be very involved in the rollout of digital ID. The Gates Foundation is alleged to be a primary stakeholder behind efforts to make digital ID a global reality. Gates has warned that anyone not embracing it will be left behind, though I’m betting evangelical premillennialists are saying the same thing about him.

Sensible folks tend to think that digital ID is one step closer to the goal of global citizenship, central control, and the end of sovereign nations. In case you’re wondering, from a biblical perspective, those three things are often paired with the four horsemen.

There are also significant privacy concerns about digital ID. One of the primary proponents of the ID push is Larry Ellison, who owns Oracle and CBS and will likely own CNN and TikTok soon. In true totalitarian form, he wants data centralization and citizen surveillance. He has stated, “Citizens will be on their best behavior because we’re constantly watching and recording everything that is going on.” [Emphasis added.] Ellison is obviously following a guidebook called “1984.”

Digital ID information would be centrally stored, making it exceptionally vulnerable to hackers and increasing the probability of data breaches. Another genuine concern regarding this kind of technology is that social credit systems, like those implemented in China, will be based on digital ID – which could be disabled if the government grows unhappy with your speech, beliefs, how much meat you consume, or religious practices.

More than two million United Kingdom citizens have signed petitions over the last few days asking the British government to oppose the creation of a digital national ID system, citing the threat of mass surveillance and digital control. Those opposing have stated the obvious – the British government is dead set on pandering to illegal migrants while forcing British citizens to lock into a central digitized platform to curb migration.

The hypocrisy of politicians is always astounding and not one bit creative. Great Britain is doing the same thing the Biden administration did during Covid, just with everyone’s ID. Essentially, the Biden administration’s mantra was keep everyone locked down, push the vaccine, demonize those who don’t want it, and continue allowing millions of unvaccinated illegals to pour across our southern border. It was remarkable hypocrisy in broad daylight.

Whether we’re talking about Covid lockdowns or digital ID, politicians prey upon the gullible and delegitimize critical thinkers – because we’re dangerous. Questioning what we’re being “forced” to do is unacceptable to totalitarians.

When it comes to digital ID, my advice to those of us in a still reasonably free America is the same as it was during Covid: Do not comply. Exercise your God-given inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Swim upstream, my friends. And if you haven’t already found a few fun-loving, critically thinking, conspiracy theory friends, now’s the time.
