It’s like Nashville moving to Alabama for a five-day weekend.

It’s like the Music City coming to Lake Martin.

It’s a paradise for lovers of original songs.

And it’s all free.

The Lake Martin Songwriters Festival runs July 24 to 28 at venues across East Alabama, from Alex City on the North side to Dadeville on the Southeast.

Printers’ Alley in Nashville has moved to Highway 280 for the long weekend.

Alabama’s local songwriters will serve up their wares today and tomorrow. You might see and hear the next Hank Williams, Lionel Ritchie, Taylor Hicks, Bobby Goldsboro or Jimmy Buffett. All of those Alabama performers were playing in local Alabama venues in their earliest years.

With the unusually long schedule of song performances, you can surely find one night (or more) that fits your schedule. With the entire festival being free, you can afford to go. With the performance venues being right here in Alabama, you can get there easily.

No tickets are needed; it's free. Contact each venue you wish to visit to see if they take reservations. More information is here. For information about the performers, go here.
