The Enterprise Police Department announced the search for two-year-old Genesis Reid concluded on July 10 without locating her remains.

“While we did not achieve the outcome we all prayed for, this operation should never be viewed as a failure,” said chief Michael Moore. “This was a deliberately, methodical and professionally executed search based on the evidence available at the time.”

Moore held a press conference Monday, thanking the multiple agencies and community members who assisted during the search.

Reid was reported missing in February by her mother, Adrienne Reid. Police arrested the mother and charged her with capital murder and abuse of a corpse after they obtained evidence showing the child was killed and discarded in a dumpster.

Surveillance video from a neighbor showed a person, believed to be Adrienne Reid, placing a duffel bag and toys into a dumpster. The child had not been seen since Christmas Day.

Adrienne Reid has requested a speedy trial. She is considered innocent until proven guilty.
