As the military campaign against Iran draws into its third day, America is already mourning the loss of three U.S. service members, who were killed Sunday in a retaliatory attack that injured five others.
"As of 9:30 am ET, March 1, three U.S. service members have been killed in action and five are seriously wounded as part of Operation Epic Fury," U.S. Central Command announced on social media. "Several others sustained minor shrapnel injuries and concussions — and are in the process of being returned to duty. Major combat operations continue and our response effort is ongoing."
Several of Alabama's lawmakers expressed their condolences and prayers for the families of the fallen soldiers.
"This morning, a uniformed officer and a military chaplain will knock on the doors of 3 families of members of the United States military to inform them of their loved one's death in service to our country," U.S. Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Hoover) said on X. "Please join me in praying for these families and for the full recovery of those wounded during Operation Epic Fury."
