A video shared on social media shows an inmate at the Lee County Detention Facility being Tasered and put to the ground before jail workers embrace each other and laugh.
Lee County Sheriff candidate Cam Hunt shared the leaked surveillance video from February 17. Hunt claimed the inmate in the video was suffering from mental health issues and is known to the jail. He said the inmate has never been combative.
"What you see is a blatant use of excessive force," Hunt said. "Let me be clear, this isn't about being soft on crime. This is about basic human decency, professionalism and doing the job the right way. The people of Lee County deserve better."
