The Lee County Farmers Federation endorsed Cam Hunt for Lee County Sheriff on Friday.
Hunt is running against incumbent Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones.
"We are excited about Cam Hunt's candidacy. He is qualified for the job and ready to accept the challenge of being our next sheriff," said Robert Walters, president of the Lee County Farmers Federation. "He will work hard and represent the people of this county with excellence."
Hunt was born and raised in Lee County and graduated from Auburn High School. He attended Auburn University, where he studied political science and international relations. Hunt also played on the Auburn University football team.
Upon graduation from Auburn, Hunt joined the U.S. Marine Corps Officer Selection Program, where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He served as a field artillery officer with the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, holding several positions of leadership. Hunt completed his service with the rank of captain.
Hunt has served with the Opelika Police Department as a traffic homicide investigator and as a member of the Lee County SWAT Team. He has also served as an FBI firearms instructor and a certified law enforcement sniper. Hunt worked in the Lee County Sheriff's Department from 2023 to 2025.
"I am honored to receive the Farmers Federation's endorsement," said Hunt. "Farmers and I share the same strong work ethic and conservative values, so I look forward to serving them and all the people of Lee County."
Hunt and his wife, Kalyn, have three children. They attend First Baptist Church of Opelika.
