The Shelby County Sheriff's Office and multiple agencies responded Sunday evening to a deadly helicopter crash.

At least two people were killed when a Life Saver chopper went down near Bear Creek Road and Mountain Oaks Drive around 6 p.m.

There were three crewmembers on board. One crewmember was pronounced dead on the scene. The other two were transported to the hospital, where one was pronounced dead.

Bear Creek Road was shut down for the investigation, and the sheriff's office said it could take some time for the investigation to conclude.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is working with other agencies to identify those involved and notify family members. Life Saver confirmed the crew was from Sylacauga and was responding to a hiker who was experiencing breathing problems.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate.
