As the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) exposes more governmental waste of taxpayer money, U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) said Democrats are growing more outraged at the prospect of losing a major source of funding for their pet projects, having controlled nearly every major federal agency for years.
"It's way over-bloated. Democrats have had total control for the past four years; really, 12 of the last 16, they've had control of the federal government. It has grown out of control," Tuberville said Wednesday on Fox Business Network's "The Evening Edit."
"The American people can't afford what we have right now. DOGE is doing a great job." he continued. "DOGE is a threat to the Democrats' 'democracy' that's what they're really afraid of. So we have to make cuts. We have to grow the country. If we don't do that, we're going to lose the country that we all know and love."
Tuberville agreed that when Democrats bemoan the loss of "democracy," they really mean their bureaucracy.
"They don't want their money touched. They don't care about paying bills. They don't care about anything other than spending," he said. "...These young kids need to grow up understanding whatever we have we've got to pay for. The Democrats are totally against that. They just want to spend money, buy things — it's like a spoiled brat that grew up down the street. They get everything they want but at the end of the day, they don't really understand responsibility."
Tuberville said Democrats should be "jumping up and down celebrating" the DOGE cuts along with Republicans and most Americans.
"We are finally finding out that all the money that's going to a lot of these agencies is being wasted or stolen. So you can tell, at the end of the day, they love their money. They love to spend it on what they want to spend it on and not the American people."
In a separate interview with Newsmax, Tuberville said some of the waste DOGE has exposed could and should land some people in jail for fraud.
