Some high school football games have been moved to Thursday night due to the possibility of storms and flooding.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham said an already-saturated ground could get even soggier as a system moves through the area Friday and Saturday.
Widespread showers and storms are expected across the state. Localized flooding from the rain Friday could impact areas into Saturday. More storms and showers are possible Saturday and Sunday.
Several school systems, including Jefferson County, have moved Friday night games to Thursday. Vincent’s homecoming game will also be moved to Thursday. Attendees are encouraged to contact the local school system for football dates and times.
Looking ahead to next week, seasonal fall weather will return to Alabama Tuesday with cooler temperatures. Some areas in north Alabama could see temperatures into the 50s by Wednesday.
