Mobile educator Tim Manning announced he is running for the Republican nomination for Alabama House of Representatives District 101.
Manning, who has been a teacher for 29 years, has been at Phillips Preparatory School since 1999. Before then, he taught at Daphne High School.
“I have taught Civics and U.S. History for my entire career, and now I am looking forward to taking the lessons I have taught thousands of students about our government and putting them into practice,” Manning said in a press release. “I feel some of the main areas of concern that impact the citizens of Alabama need to be addressed.”
Those concerns include access to mental health treatment, constituent communication, K-12 education reforms and transparency.
“Each year, certain topics come up in the legislature that the public is passionate about (lottery, term limits, etc), but often those issues are not brought up for a vote by the people, thereby not allowing the people's voices to be heard, and there is no explanation as to WHY the people aren't allowed to vote on them, we're only told that a vote won't happen this year,” Manning said.
The primary election will be held on May 19, 2026, and the general election will be held on November 3, 2026.
