A Madison man is facing multiple charges after leading Redstone Arsenal police and NASA officers in a recent pursuit across the North Alabama military base.

According to WHNT19, the unidentified suspect, who was traveling south on Rideout Road at the time of the collision, struck the grab net on Gate 9 but kept driving.

Officers with Redstone were then contacted by guards at the impacted gate and initiated a pursuit. When officers first made contact, the driver refused to stop, extending the chase southbound onto Toftoy Throughway, accessing Fowler Road. The vehicle then turned east on Fowler, eventually coming to a stop in a parking lot.

At that time, officers observed an 8-year-old boy in the back seat, but were unable to remove him after the suspect refused to exit the vehicle and again drove away, speeding onto NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center. From there, the pursuit entered a wooded area off Centaur Street, where the suspect was eventually boxed in by responding officers. Upon being blocked, the suspect again attempted to flee, this time almost striking an officer while hitting a police car.

Officers then broke the vehicle's windows to access the suspect after he refused to comply with orders to exit the car. The child also unlocked a door from inside, allowing law enforcement to enter the vehicle.

The suspect and his son were reported to have had minor injuries after colliding with the grab net and were taken to a local hospital. He now faces charges including attempting to elude police, unlawful entry onto a military installation, resisting arrest, damaging government property and third-degree domestic violence.
