A Journey Middle School teacher was arrested on multiple child sex charges, according to WAFF.
Logan Thomas, 32, was charged with 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material with intent to disseminate and one count of electronic solicitation of a child.
Madison City Schools superintendent Ed Nichols released a statement saying the school system is aware of the arrest and is prioritizing students' safety and well-being.
Thomas was placed on administrative leave and is prohibited from entering school system property or participating in school-sponsored activities.
"At this time, we have no information that any Madison City Schools students were involved in the matters for which Mr. Thomas is charged," Nichols stated. "However, we are working closely and fully cooperating with the Madison Police Department as they continue their investigation.
"We understand that this situation is deeply concerning to our families," Nichols continued. "We encourage any student or parent with information to assist the investigation to contact the Madison Police Department. We remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all students."
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Thomas at his home on Thursday morning. He was booked into the Limestone County Jail.
Thomas is considered innocent until proven guilty.
