Major League Fishing’s (MLF) Folds of Honor Patriot Cup is taking place on Lake Wedowee.
Teams are lining up early each morning for the third of four events in the 2025 Fishing Clash Team Series.
The tournament, presented by B&W Trailer Hitches, is highlighting Lake Wedowee and publicizing the waterway as a “previously unknown fishery.”
At least one angler, Dustin Connell, lives in Clanton but has never been to Lake Wedowee.
“I’d never been here before, but it felt like home,” Connell said. “It’s a typical Alabama lake – clear water, spotted bass, deep structure – so it didn’t take long to get comfortable.”
The teams were told six weeks before the tournament that they would meet in Oxford and at that time were prohibited from fishing in any waterway within 60 miles of Oxford.
The first few days of the tournament were elimination rounds, where anglers had the opportunity to fish Lake Wedowee’s unique structure covered in standing timber with 10,660 surface acres.

The tournament is being livestreamed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day on the MyOutdoorTV app and the Major League Fishing channel on Rumble.
RFD-TB is also airing the final period of the competition days from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
MLF offers a daily blog and photo gallery for fans to keep up with the action.
