In a post from the White House's official Rapid Response account, the Trump administration thanked Gov. Kay Ivey for leading Alabama's efforts to make the state's roadways safer by removing and detaining illegal aliens operating as unlicensed truckers.

The post highlighted the number of illegal aliens who have been placed on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers since October as a result of the statewide crackdown initiated by Ivey.

"82 truck drivers have been detained in Alabama on ICE holds since late October... 12 of those detained did not have a license of any kind," the post reads. "Thank you, Governor Kay Ivey, for helping the Trump Administration make American roads safer!"

Ivey announced last week that ICE agents are now teaming up with state authorities to enforce commercial vehicle assignments.

"Alabama is leading the way when it comes to going after illegal bad actors in trucking," said Ivey. "I'm proud of ALEA for taking decisive action and grateful for our strong partnership with ICE. Alabama will not look the other way while illegal immigration and illegal operators threaten the safety of our communities or undermine the integrity of our trucking industry."

"If you are here illegally and breaking our laws or putting folks at risk on our highways, you will be held accountable in our state," added Ivey.

U.S. Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn) and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery) responded on X to the White House's post.

Tuberville praised Alabama’s progress on the issue and said there is "ZERO REASON illegals should be operating large, commercial vehicles," effectively turning them into an "80,000 lbs MOBILE MISSILE."

Britt praised Ivey, stating that her leadership should "serve as a model for our nation."
