A man accused of raping and impregnating a child in 2020 is back behind bars after his bond was revoked and he put up a fight.

Thomas Raburn Farris, of Leeds, was charged in Tuscaloosa County with first-degree rape. Prosecutors claim Farris raped a girl in an outdoor playhouse. The child gave birth to a child who was a DNA match to Farris.

Farris was indicted and arrested in 2022 and was released on a $35,000 bond. He was living in Leeds until his bond was revoked for possessing a firearm. Court documents state he was working security at a Birmingham church and was carrying a firearm. Prosecutors presented church surveillance photos of Farris with a gun on his hip.

U.S. Marshals worked to locate Farris and requested assistance from Hoover Police and multiple agencies after gathering evidence that he was at a hotel on Southpark Drive.

A perimeter was set up, with Pelham Parkway closed and a heavy police presence. After his hotel room became surrounded by law enforcement, police said Farris cut a hole in the ceiling and tried to get away. However, he was captured after falling through the ceiling into another hotel room.
