The man Scottsboro Police said shot an officer after a domestic incident and chase is scheduled for a court appearance on August 20.

Daniel Victor McCarn, 29, was captured after a Blue Alert was issued statewide over the weekend. He is charged with attempted murder.

Police responded on Saturday to a domestic violence call on Ruth Street. That’s when investigators said McCarn fled the scene, leading police on a chase. He eventually crashed his vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 72 and County Park Road and continued to try to get away. He fired shots towards the officer, investigators said, then fled on foot.

Lt. Derek Porch was shot in the hand.

Multiple agencies joined in an overnight search. They captured the suspect on Sunday on Old Larkinsville Road.
