A Malcolm man is facing serious charges after an undercover sex sting in Baldwin County.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office has been conducting online stings in which deputies pose as children.

On Wednesday, Jeremy Dane Windle, 44, traveled from Washington County to meet a person he met online and thought was a female child, investigators said. Deputies said the plan was to engage in sexual activity. When he arrived in Baldwin County, he was taken into custody without incident.

Windle declined to be interviewed by law enforcement, but deputies said he was in possession of fentanyl. He was charged with electronic solicitation of a child, traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The sheriff’s office is joining the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to conduct the sting operations.

“Both the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and HSI remain committed to protecting children from these predators, whether in person or in the online environment,” the sheriff’s office stated.

Windle is considered innocent until proven guilty.
