The Mobile Police Department arrested a suspected illegal immigrant Monday morning after a DUI crash that killed one person.

Police responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash around 3:09 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Montlimar Drive and Michael Boulevard. A Toyota 4Runner and a Toyota Corolla collided.

The 4Runner was flipped on its side, and the passenger of the SUV, a male juvenile, was pronounced dead on the scene.

No others sustained serious injuries, but the driver of the 4Runner, Franklin Arana, was suspected of DUI.

Authorities arrested the 30-year-old on Monday and charged him with DUI manslaughter. He was booked into the Metro Jail, where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) placed an immigration detainer on him. Arana's status in the United States has not been confirmed.

Arana is considered innocent until proven guilty.
