A Fairhope man allegedly tried to rob several people at Arby’s in Gulf Shores over the weekend.
The Gulf Shores Police Department arrested Preston Hope Northan, 23, on Sunday, just minutes after the incident.
An employee of Arby’s at 1515 Gulf Shores Parkway reported Northan pointed a pistol at her and demanded money and her car keys. The clerk ran out of the back of the store while the would-be robber ran out the front. Police said he then attempted to rob two patrons who were eating outside.
They refused to hand over their car keys, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
He was then taken into custody a few blocks away, but he had no firearm. A K9 unit responded and found the gun he had used, which ended up being a BB gun.
Northan is now charged with two counts of first-degree robbery.
