The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old for the alleged sexual assault of a five-year-old.
Ricardo Nicolas Tomas, a Hispanic man living in Boaz, is charged with the sex abuse of a child less than 12.
The sheriff’s office said a deputy responded to a home in Marshall County regarding the incident last month. After an investigation and interview with the suspect, Tomas admitted to the assault. He was arrested and booked into DeKalb County Detention Center.
"The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office would like to thank Albertville Police Department, Boaz Police Department, Marshall County Department of Human Resources, Marshall County Children's Advocacy Center and the 9th Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for their assistance and dedication in this case," Sheriff Nick Welden stated.
He concluded, "God Bless!”
Tomas is being held on a $50,000 cash bond. He is also being held for another agency, although the sheriff's office did not specify which agency.
