The Fairhope Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) rescued a man Friday afternoon after heavy flooding.

Dispatchers received a call at 2:26 p.m. about a person in the river off Boone Lane. Multiple crews responded and performed a swift water rescue with assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Daphne Search and Rescue, Daphne and Fish River/Marlow and Silverhill Fire Departments and Medstar.

Fairhope VFD Capt. David Wyatt located the man hanging on a tree and firefighters and an ALEA trooper entered the floodwaters to communicate with him. After a local citizen deployed a boat, crews were able to rescue the man.

Fairhope VFD thanked Baldwin County 911 for “great communication.”
