Multiple agencies responded Tuesday afternoon to a boat fire in Perdido Bay.
As onlookers watched, Lillian Volunteer Fire Rescue rescued an unidentified man from the water who said an explosion blew him off the boat.
Firefighters said he was wearing a life vest.
They said the incident was an example of how life vests can save lives.
The man was taken to the emergency room for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Other agencies that responded were Perdido Beach, Orange Beach, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
It is unclear what caused the explosion.
