An Owens Cross Roads man is civilly suing the City of Huntsville and a police officer over a crash that left him injured.

Hunter Zachary Wallace was involved in the crash on Jan. 28, 2025. The accident occurred as Wallace was traveling on Taylor Lane, approaching Highway 431. He was passing under a green light when Wallace said he was struck by the police cruiser driven by Ronald Israel Weinland, III.

According to the lawsuit, Wallace sustained injuries to his head, neck, back and chest when his vehicle was t-boned by the police cruiser.

The lawsuit, filed by attorneys with Alexander Shunnarah, also claimed Wallace suffered emotional distress, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium, and incurred medical, hospital and prescription drug expenses. The lawsuit claims negligence and wantonness.

All parties are considered innocent, and no criminal charges have been filed.
