The suspect in the kidnapping of a Theodore family is not who authorities thought he was.
Hector Gamaliel Argueta-Guerra gave officers a false name after he was arrested in connection with the disappearance of a woman and her two children. Argueta-Guerra told investigators he was Juan Carlos Argueta Guerra.
The State of Alabama has entered a motion in court to amend charging documents to reflect the change in name.
The defendant “provided inaccurate biological information,” the motion states.
Aurelia Choc Cac, 40; her daughter, Niurka, 17; and her two-year-old son, Anthony, were last seen on January 30. Deputies arrived at their home in the 9000 block of Ben Hamilton Road and discovered blood, their phones and a missing mattress.
Argueta Guerra, 27, is charged with three counts of first-degree kidnapping.
Silverio Garcia, 60, was arrested on February 3 and charged with being a certain person forbidden to possess a pistol.
Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said the suspects are connected to a network of painting companies in the area.
