Mercedes-Benz has announced an additional $4 billion investment into its Tuscaloosa County production plant to boost SUV manufacturing and offset financial adversity tied to American auto tariffs. The company said it will make the investment through 2030.
On Tuesday, legislators, industry leaders and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy gathered at the plant to celebrate the corporation's announcement. On hand for the event were U.S Sens. Tommy Tuberville (R-Auburn)and Katie Britt (R-Montgomery), who both praised Mercedes' move on social media.
Tuberville hailed the investment, declaring, "Manufacturing in Alabama is BOOMING!"
