The primary race for Marshall County superintendent is headed to a runoff between incumbent Cindy Wigley and Asbury High School principal Clay Webber.

According to unofficial results, Webber received the most votes in Tuesday’s primary at 3,335, or 46.6%. Wigely received 2,609 votes, or 36.4%, and Stephanie Gamble Wisener received 1,219 votes.

Wigley has served as superintendent since January 2015. She and Webber butted heads during their campaigns over administrative issues. Wisener also accused Wigley of trying to derail her campaign by challenging her party affiliation, which Wigley denied.
