We are 15 days removed from the hiring of Auburn head football coach Alex Golesh, and the first-year signal caller has finalized his inaugural staff.
Ten on-field coaches have been hired as Golesh finalized his staff with the hiring of Larry Scott to assume tight end duties on Monday, per CBS Sports.
With that, here is a look at Auburn’s 2026 offensive staff:
Offensive coordinator: Joel Gordon
Gordon makes his way to the Plains after serving on Golesh’s staff at USF for the past three seasons. He served as the passing game coordinator and quarterback coach in 2023 and was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2024-25.
During his three-year stint at USF, Gordon orchestrated an offense that tallied more than 450 yards and 35.5 points per game. The Bulls’ 2025 offense finished the regular season ranked second in the country in total offense (501.7 ypg) and fourth in scoring offense (43 ppg).
Tabbed as an elite offensive mind and high-level quarterback developer by Golesh, Gordon mentored USF quarterback Byrum Brown to more than 7,000 career rushing yards and 2,000 career passing yards from 2023-25. Brown became just the 12th quarterback in FBS history to throw for 3,000 yards and rush for 1,000 yards in 2025, and led all of college football in total offense.
Gordon, who spent time at Iowa State with Golesh, helped form the future NFL star Brock Purdy to the Cyclones' leader in all-time wins and passing yards.
Running backs: Larry Porter
Spending one season at West Virginia in 2025, Porter will return to the Plains after serving as special teams and tight ends coach from 2017-20.
Prior to his one-year stint with the Mountaineers, Porter served as the running backs coach and special teams coordinator at North Carolina from 2021-2024. It was his second stint with the Tar Heels after also serving as special teams coordinator and running backs coach from 2014-2016.
Porter also had stints as running backs coach at Texas (2013), Arizona State (2012), LSU (2005-2009), Oklahoma State (2002-2004), Arkansas State (1999-01) and Tennessee-Martin (1998) and was the head coach at Memphis (2010-2011).
Porter has been tabbed as a two-time national recruiter of the year and a three-time Broyles Award nominee – an annual award given to the best assistant coach in college football.
Porter has developed numerous 1,000-yard rushers over his 29-year tenure and has been part of 21 bowl teams since 2002.
Wide receivers: Kodi Burns
A four-year letterwinner and 2010 national champion at Auburn, Burns will return to the sidelines repping orange and blue again in 2025.
Most recently, Burns served as the assistant head coach, co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach under Golesh at USF in 2025, where he helped Gordon and the Bulls orchestrate an explosive offense.
Before working with Golesh, Burns spent three seasons in the NFL with the New Orleans Saints, working with receivers such as Chris Olave and Rahshid Shahee. In 2021, Burns worked at Tennessee as the wide receivers coach, where he worked with Cedric Tillman in a top-10 offense nationally.
Burns spent five seasons at Auburn (2016-2020) as a co-offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach throughout the four years.
After starting his career as an offensive graduate assistant under former Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn at both Arkansas State (2012) and Auburn (2013), Burns held roles as the running backs coach at Samford (2014) and wide receivers coach at Middle Tennessee (2015).
Offensive line: Tyler Hudanick
Finishing up his playing career at UCF in 2018, Hudanick makes his way to the Plains after having worked with Golesh on coaching staffs at UCF (2020), Tennessee (2021-2022) and South Florida (2023-2025).
He was named the Bulls’ offensive line coach before the 2023 season and added run game coordinator to his offensive line coaching duties in 2024 – a role he will also hold with the Tigers.
Hudanick helped the Bulls' offensive line pave the way for an offense that finished 10th nationally in rushing yards per game (225.42). During his three-year tenure at USF, Hudanick coached an offensive line that helped the Bulls rank in the top five of the American Conference in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in every season.
Hudanick served as an offensive line graduate assistant at Tennessee and UCF. He started his coaching career in 2019 as a quality control assistant with the Knights.
Tight ends: Larry Scott
Rounding out the offensive hires for Golesh was Scott, who had been the head coach at Howard since 2020. He compiled a 23-37 record during his time as head coach at Howard, but won MEAC titles in 2022 and 2023.
Prior to his four-year stint at Howard, Larry served as the tight ends coach at Florida from 2018-20, where he coached the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL, Kyle Pitts.
He served as offensive coordinator at Tennessee in 2017 and was the tight ends coach at Miami prior to that from 2013-2015.
Scott began coaching at the college ranks in 2005 at USF, where he remained until 2012. He began as director of high school relations before moving into a graduate assistant role. He later blossomed into a tight ends coach, an offensive line coach and a running backs coach.
